Times of flex and change can bring with them pressures on all involved.

The success of change on any scale hinges on the quality of communicating that change in order to bring those affected with you. Change communications can sometimes be reduced to little more than factual updates, defending positions, fired off in one direction and at worst can break down altogether.

As Jim Rohn said:

“Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know.”

In this session we will consider what good communication looks like as you plan to take your team, stakeholders, staff and membership with you on your change journey with all of its twists and turns. And we will consider some general principles for good change communications.

We will take you through our ‘Change Readiness Assessment’, which will equip you to better understand your audience before your communications process fires up, and will become a resource for ongoing use during the comms process.

As we explore how to communicate the requirements of the change in a way that brings people with you, we will each identify an organisational change on any scale that you may face, actual or fictional, possibly drawing on the ‘postcard from the future’ activity in session 1.

Individually and in small groups we will consider how our identified organisational change might be communicated, as we draw on a simple comms planning tool, before feeding back any blockers and shockers to the group.

The planning tool can be used at both strategic and practical level to inform your entire comms plan, or just a single activity.
