The Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) assist customers in legally accessing, copying and sharing the published content they need, while also making sure that copyright owners are paid royalties for the use of their work.
With the looming introduction of the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), CLA recognised the opportunity to improve existing technical controls for securing personal information.
After extensive research the CLA partnered with Equantiis to conduct their GDPR Readiness Assessment, which included discovery, education and fact finding.
Equantiis’ consultants conducted various workshops across the business to help staff gain a common level or appreciation and understanding of the new regulation.
Working with departmental representation across the business from Finance, to IT, to Human Resources, with staff at all levels, the Equantiis consultants benchmarked current data protection practices compared to the new requirements and rights under GDPR, as well as against regulatory readiness and maturity within their sector peer group.
The CLA were then presented with a full report which outlined their current state of GDPR readiness.
From undertaking the Equantiis GDPR Readiness Assessment, CLA were enabled to;
- Understand the organisations readiness for GDPR and impact on;
– Business Processes
– Business Services
– Business Applications
- Define gaps in current business practices and create a prioritised roadmap to achieve GDPR compliance
- Protect users and customer data from misuse
- Put in an actionable plan that CLA could deliver to lead the organisation to Privacy by Design
